In the state of New York, several events were held to raise money to aid injured veterans and wounded warriors on this past Memorial Day Weekend. The Vernon National Shooting Preserve, for the 4th year in row, raised funds for The Wounded Warrior Project to aid our wounded fellow Americans who have sacrificed greatly in the face of danger in war.
Similar to other events that raise money for a mile walked or other similar type of fundraising event, the Shooting Tournament's participant's raised money for each target they broke (shot). They are paid by the sponsors they have asked to donate to the event. Corporate sponsors were also willing to help donate towards the event's goal of raising 10 thousand dollars to be used to build a therapy pool for rehab treatment of head trauma. They hope to exceed their goal and utilize the additional funds to benefit the military child, to help them deal with the injuries their parent(s) have sustained.
Several wounded soldiers and their units showed up to support and participate in the event, including members of the 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, New York. One wounded soldier and event participant, Sergeant Robert Walczak lost 4 inches of his femur from a gun shot wound to the leg in a fire fight in Afghanistan. Walczak spent a year in crutches, a cane and learned to walk again after a year of rehabilitation exercises. Additionally, the Wounded Warrior Project gave him a lot of aid upon his return from Afghanistan.
Vision-Strike-Wear.Com is proud to have been asked to create a design for the 1st Bn, 32nd Infantry, 10th Mountain Division that the division wore to this Shooting Tournament at the Vernon National Shooting Preserve. The unit was adopted by a customer and Facebook follower of Vision-Strike-Wear.Com. She purchased and provided this unit with the shirts they proudly wear in unison.
We could not be more proud to cover the backs of these brave men and we are glad to see that we, as a nation, have not forgotten our wounded soldiers. We thank you for your service and bravery. This is the reason we got into this business to begin with - to let our military know we are here for them and that in some way our shirts and designs will remind you that we support our military.
